In March 2014 I participated in a live Google Hangout to discuss the @ONE Online Teaching Certification Program. I was joined by three program graduates and Michelle Pacansky-Brock, The Center Coordinator. We had a great discussion about the certification program and the graduates provided amazing reflections about their progress and growth throughout the program. If you didn't get to see it live, check out the archive:
I'm not currently using twitter in my courses, but I am interested in the possibility. I have just begun using twitter myself to gather information about teaching and education in general. I don't know if I have a lot of great ideas to share , but I can share some resources I found while learning about twitter that might be interesting or helpful to someone who is trying to decide if twitter is the right tool to integrate into their course. I hit up all the places I usually get information to compile just a few resources for getting started with Twitter.
Right now, I am especially loving all the learning that is taking place in The Center Twitter Chats. I'm connecting with people I probably would have never connected with, and hearing some awesome perspectives on topics that I had never addressed before. Sound interesting? Then join me in The Center Twitter Chats Thursdays at 3:00pm Pacific. (http://tweetchat.com/room/ccclearn, or using #CCCLEARN) or follow me on Twitter @StirlingAnna. Event Coordinator November 8, 2013 @ONE Facilitated the VVC DEA last week. It was a beautiful day to learn about new and exciting trends in distance education. The event included a keynote presentation by Patricia James, Dean of Distance Education at Mt. San Jacinto College followed by four morning workshops, lunch and then repeated workshops in the afternoon. The event concluded with a Wrap-up and Reflection session. View the event registration flyer for more information about the workshops presented, and check out the photo gallery below to see what was happening throughout the day. I had the honor of being interviewed by the MSJC Educators' Discussion on Teaching Blog as part of a Distance Education Faculty series. The interview consisted of 10 questions that ranged from the basic, "How many years have you taught online," and "What courses have you taught online," to more in depth questions such as "Tell us about your most effective online assignment" and "Where can I get more information and training about distance education?".
